As I am challenging myself to determine if I have a good balance of management and leadership. I will also challenge my team to determine their levels of leadership vs. management and any areas we, as a team could strengthen as we lead our teams. 

I have had past teams complete a similar self-evaluation and it was interesting to see that some individuals who thought of themselves as "doers" were actually very motivating to their teams. Teams need a leader (visionary) as well as a manager (keep team on task). The manager may not always be one in a management role - it is important that it is someone who is good at carrying out the vision from the leader. 

It is interesting to consider that a good manager may not be a good leader. It is important to consider what qualities you and your team bring to the table and determine if you have aces in places and are enabling your team to contribute their strengths as well.
