Leading Change in the "New" Environment

So I'm curious how changes in the sector impact the hiring profile and developmental needs of employees at career colleges.  In other words, will we seek a different skill set than we have in the past?  Any thoughts?

Our college system has identified 3 areas that we will focus on when recruiting new admissions staff.  These same 3 areas will be the focus of development in our existing staff.  Professionalism, Education and Passion.  We feel that professionalism is the key to credibility in admissions.  We have established educational requirements for new hires and are looking to provide educational growth for existing staff through a number of internal modalities.  With the constraints on compensation admissions may no longer appeal to those types of people who did the job to earn high wages, passion will need to be the driving force for a successful and fulfilled admissions advisor.  The 3 characteristics names were not absent in our current staff, but with the past focus on skill sets that persuasion and sales, hiring and training lent themselves to supporting those qualifications.

There is no question that the changes in the sector are leading to new hiring profiles and developmental needs. Specifically in the area of Faculty Development (my area of concenrtation) it is becoming more important that educators in our sector are more than just subject matter experts (SMEs). The classroom is becoming much more learner centered and our faculty need to reflect that along with the development of critical thinking skills in all their classes. To that end we are concentrating on potenital faculty who either have education and pedagogical background along with the subject matter expertise (especially in Nursing and Allied Health fields), or who amenable to learning new methods to integrate critical thinking into their students' learning. This will benefit not only our students learning, but retention and job securement once our students get out of school

So it looks as if there will be changes to admissions and faculty hiring profiles.  In addition, we'll need to examine those who are currently employed to enhance their development to meet the demands of today's student.  What kind of resources will this take?
