Check lists are used in all areas of our lives, be they on paper or on an electronic device.  With all the pressures and challenges of being an educator it is easy to overlook an important announcement, deadline or event for students.  By creating a check list you will be able to scan it as you prepare for the class and make sure you have gotten together all needed supplies, handouts and activities needed for the up coming class.

Check lists can serve as memory joggers  because in reviewing them you can see that you need to make this call to line up a field trip or secure a guest speaker.  Check lists can help you in laying out your lesson plans as  you can see what is coming up in the next few classes sessions and make sure to have all of the needed resources.

Check lists don't take long to create and need not be complex.  Just list what you want to cover or accomplish and you will save time and effort trying to remember if you are remembering all of the things you need to remember.  The list will help to reduce some stress and you will be able to concentrate more on what you are there for and that is to sharin information, skills and knowledge with your students.
