Training is ineffective unless the desired behavior, knowledge and skills are transferred to the workplace. Applying what you’ve learned from your training will help you maximize your performance results.
I often explain to my students the value of learning while on the job. As a dental hygienist, my experience has taught me that I can't do the job alone, but depend on my fellow coworkers to help achieve a satisfactory day! And in turn, I help them with their duties so that we show our patients/employees that we are a cohesive unit and can work through whatever is thrown at us on any given day. For instance, while taking radiographs a patient can be difficult, if I can't get the desired diagnostic x-ray, I'll ask one of the dental assistants if they can show me a better way to place and take the x-ray. It is through their willingness to help, that I can build a better rapport with my patients and my coworkers
